Charles Eugene Curley, Jr. 58, of Gaston, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids, NC.

Charles was a native of Halifax County, the son of the late Charles Eugene Curley, Sr. and Rebecca Jane Black Gorris, who survives. He was employed as Chief Steward in the U. S. Merchant Marines.

He is survived by his mother, Jane Gorris and her husband, Norman A. of Gaston; two daughters, Ashley and Amber of Texas; his sister, Hazel Marie McGuire and her husband, Donald, of Norfolk; and two brothers, Mike Curley of Ocean Shores, WA, and Gary Curley of Buxton, NC.

Memorial funeral services will be held Sunday, January 20, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids with Rev. Randy Martin officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.
